Most people probably don't think about the way a product is packaged. They usually just care about the product inside the package. What they don't realize is that packaging is a huge factor in purchase decisions. If you're not really sure which bag of chips to buy, you might have a hard time choosing if all of the bags had a bland, boring design.
While most products have a standard way of packaging (chips in bags, drinks and other liquids in bottles, etc.), but some companies go beyond the conventional bag or box in order to make them stand out. Here are some of my favorite creative packaging techniques!

Panasonic did a really neat job packaging these ear buds. It's really simple, but it's super creative.
Another good example of making something effective out of something so simple. Ford turned an ordinary box of matches into a creative advertisement.
I have actually never heard of this brand of watch, but they look to be a designer brand (like Rolex). Apparently, these watches are designed to be waterproof and to prove that, Festina has actually packaged their watches in water; a very good way to put your money where your mouth is!
One last example comes from one of my favorite books - Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The cover of this book was redesigned to have the spine double as a striking surface for a match. This is a very cool concept if you've read the book (or even if you haven't, you probably know that the story includes the burning of books). I love the minimalist design, as well as the match-theme they've added to the spine.
